Connecting to a Cloud SQL

Cloud SQL proxy

Downloading and making the Cloud SQL proxy executable on a VM

wget https://dl.google.com/cloudsql/cloud_sql_proxy.linux.amd64 -O cloud_sql_proxy && chmod +x cloud_sql_proxy

./cloud_sql_proxy -instances=$SQL_CONNECTION=tcp:3306 & to let the proxy start listening on port 3306 (default port for MySQL protocol)

Query metadata service for external ip
