Current behavior:

  • Open Blender
  • Open updater
  • Run updater
  • The updater downloads the new update and gets stuck on "Extracting"

This is not ideal. A warning should pop up to prompt the user to close Blender.

I'm getting stuck on Copying Files, even when Blender isn't open.

@fooditron what directory are you copying to?

From the log file:

INFO 2019-07-08 12:56:12,072 - Copying to D:/Downloads/_APPS/Blender/Blender_2.80\

Do any files end up there at all?

Yes, it looks like most of them.
But relaunching the updater doesn't change the behaviour.

How long did you let the application run while it's copying? It may take some time, there are a few thousand small files in there

I let it go for like 30 minutes. It's taking way longer than it would take to manually unzip the archive.

I also tried running Updater as administrator. Still hangs at the same spot.
