So cool to see some of you are still around. I've been using the NX1, NX300, NX500 and NX30 for years now for our YouTube channels. And I've been able to do that partly because of your work. From the higher bitrate to (especially) the removal of the recordlimit.
So I recently upgraded our main camera (the NX1) to a Sony A7 III. And it made me realize the NX1 was WAY ahead of its time. Sure the Sony lens options are better, full frame is awesome and the color science produces nicer images for us. But the recorded audio sounded better to me on the NX1 and don't get me started on the monitor options in 4k on the Sony.
There was one thing though that I really like about the Sony and that is the option to not record to the SD card, just HDMI. We use our NX30 and NX500 for live streaming and while it is a really nice camera for this, one thing that is somewhat of a pain is the quality while not recording. It is the best while it is recording; it has less noise, better autofocus, more control over lighting. But one of the problems is that, eventhough there's no record limit, the recording stops after about 60-70 minutes (yes I have formatted to ex-fat). Obviously it gets warm, though I don't think that has ever been an actual problem. And I end up with files on my SD, which I'm never going to use. So I thought, maybe it's possible to mod/setup the NX500 (or preferably the NX30) to either:
Have the same quality when not recording as when it is recording or;
Be able to record for actually infinite time or;
Record, but not save to internal storage/SD-card. Like the Sony.
Do any of you think this is possible?
Oh and while we're at it.. how do I stop my NX500 from randomly switching to another record method. I think the dial is a little janky. Sometimes I press hard on it and the problem goes away. But there has to be a better solution
Thank you for your time

NX500/NX30 better HDMI output for streaming (using capture card)

@fu-raz With the Mode Dial, I had the same issue on my NX30 and I was able to get it to work by putting a Drop of "DeoxIT Liquid" in there and then turning the dial a few times.
Alternatively I read people had success with using 9x% Isopropyl Alcohol
As for my 'problem'. It seems that the NX1 already had an option like this! I just found out that the NX1 has a 4K clean out HDMI output setting. Which is exactly what I was looking for. I wonder why the NX500 doesn't have it, that would make it even better.
