Access variables from YAML front-matter in markdown

Hi,

I would like to use values which are defined in the YAML front-matter on my slides.
According to the link in the docs this should be possible with Liquid tags, so with double curly brackets.

Should this work in the Marp context?
Is a different syntax required?

I'm using Marp VSCode plugin and its not resolving the following code for me:

marp: true
author: Tim
title: demonstration
lang: en
theme: gaia
---

# {{ page.title }}
This slide deck is created by {{ page.author }}.

No, the liquid tags syntax is not defined in CommonMark, so Marp cannot reference directive values in Markdown contents. However, it is possible to implement a similar feature by using a Marp plugin, powered by Marp CLI.

Jekyll is mentioned in the Marpit framework documentation, as a tool that popularized front-matter in Markdown documents. But Liquid tags are specific to Liquid template engine that is supported by Jekyll, and Marp is not concerned with that. Similar misunderstand: marp-team/marp-core#387 (comment)

Weirdly, I didn't come across all those recent discussions.

I will try to create a solution for my request with plugins and update this post when I have a working result.
... but it will take some time to get my head around.
