hi. since last week i'm encountering this error on every completion in phpstorm. sometimes maybe a few times daily it actually works and i get the prediction but most of the time there is handshake failure. the copilot chat works fine. if i turn off the work vpn the error disappears but i can't go without it as it's required for my work.

It seems the VPN might be interfering with the connection; try adjusting its settings or using a different network configuration.

I've been using copilot on this VPN for a few months now without changing any configurations. Now it has stopped, I believe it is something with the plugin as the Copilot Chat works fine. And there is another topic where one week ago people started to report same issue:

We can't call it a solution but following this step:

Optionally, to configure Copilot to ignore certificate errors, in the left sidebar, click Tools, click Server Certificates, then select or deselect Accept non-trusted certificates automatically.

made it possible to receive the suggestions again. Meanwhile I submitted a ticket to the copilot support so they can resolve this certificate issue which apparently is happening on their side

after using it for sometime the error came back again . i am waiting for tech support feedback

We solved it basically disabling extra protection in our VPN, it was blocking the copilot suggestions for some reason.
