I apologize for a very simplistic question. I have a simple CD player connected to my computer by means of a HDMI -> USB cable.
Audacious does not respond to the presence of a disk in it. The optical disk player is powered on . The computer is quite capable of producing sound. The player plays when connected to powered speakers via RCA. Should the player get a /dev/sr0 interface when plugged in via USB.
