Get HTML from Editor

Given the playground, I assume this is possible but I haven't been able to figure out how.

Basically, – once setting up a page with the editor – how would one take whatever's been typed into the editor and convert it to HTML that could be used to render a page (or a side preview, like the playground shows)? Additionally, how would one extract what's in the editor as plain Org text (to save what had actually been typed in the editor, for example)?
