macOS install error

Hi,

I'm using the macOS install guide. I have installed homebrew but when I try to run "brew install pipx pyenv" it doesn't work. It says:
Error: Failure while executing; cp -pR /private/tmp/d20220217-88325-pwvmup/[email protected]/. /usr/local/Cellar/[email protected] exited with 1. Here's the output:
cp: /usr/local/Cellar/[email protected]/./1.1.1m: Permission denied

I'm not sure how to fix this?

Hello Ruth,

Homebrew is trying to copy OpenSSL from a temporary directory to the "cellar", or the directory where Homebrew stores packages. However, Homebrew seems not to have permission to copy to the cellar. Could you run brew doctor and paste the result here? This command checks your system for potential problems.

Let's try changing the owner of /usr/local/Cellar from kevincostello to ruthcostello:

sudo chown -R ruthcostello /usr/local/Cellar

To explain:

• sudo performs the command as the super-user. macOS should ask you for your password.
• chown -R is the command that changes ownership recursively (not just the start directory, but the directories and files beneath it, too)
• ruthcostello is your username (it will replace kevincostello, which is your husband's username)
• /usr/local/Cellar is the start directory

ok I've done that. Should I try running brew install pipx pyenv ?

Yes, please try installing pipx and pyenv again.
