@gmbecker has mentioned a better way to deal with renv integration, we will meet and specify this issue later.

Use Case

For developers and CICD we need a way

  • to install upstream dependencies
  • to install and test downstream dependencies

Here are two suggestions to be discussed:

Install Upstream

CICD install upstream dependencies

Install and Test Downstream

CICD check downstream dependencies

start by populating all repos in NEST with the same renv.lock, i.e. including downstream dependencies. This way we can monitor diverging lockfiles in the repos better.

So I'm closing this as renv and staged.deps can play nicely together - from v0.2.6 of staged.deps documentation for this forms this ticket #159 (comment) and that contains the key renv details needed to be used
