See if Rachel and a developer can generate the assets in a file format like this( JPEG 200, JPEG XR, and WebP)

Here is the support for those types of imgages:

JPEG XR
For IE and Edge

For iOS, Safari

WebP
For Chrome, Android, Opera, Samsung Internet
https://caniuse.com/#feat=webp
