We should have received emails, but we did not… investigate why.

After a long investigation.

This is because mail to root are sent to [email protected] instead of [email protected] and thus they are blocked at PMG (gateway) level.

  1. there was a .forward in /root I removed it
  2. I reworked the /etc/aliases to be sure and run newaliases
  3. I apt purge exim4-base exim4-config because apt told there was residual configuration (we use postfix instead of exim4)
  4. I apt install bsd-mailx after seeing mailx manpage was not the right one ! I think this is what fixes the issue…
