Power Connection Notes from Device Overwrite CDU Noted from SNMP

Basically assume you have CDUs setup to retrieve outlet descriptions via SNMP from the physical CDU:

1. Go to CDU and click Refresh Port Notes under CDU SNMP to get new devices connected to the CDU (the updated description of the port)
2. Go to the Device and create the Power Connections link to the CDU and outlet leaving Notes blank
3. View CDU - Notes are overwritten.
4. Refresh Port Notes and the CDU description of the port will appear in the notes for the device properly

Order of events issue and I am not sure I will bother with it but likely if I do I would read the Notes from the CDU outlet and update the power connection Notes as the device port is selected (if possible). Or look at not overwriting the Notes field of a SNMP connected CDU when the update of the Power Connections occurs.

Let's see how often this bothers me...

Will be adding in a new field for Cable Notes (so things like your Cable ID, etc) that are not touched by SNMP polls at all. Would that resolve your issue @timlegge ?

That may well do it. I'd have to look back at that particular issue again but it hasn't been enough to cause me to look.
