So I'm still having problems. I downloaded and installed the latest version of this from this site. It's so close by instead of the xml file being generated, it's exporting an html with you are saying should be manipulated through RealURL only I don't know what to do with RealURL. I added your RealURL file "default.php" to my current "realurlconfig.php" file and it didn't work. Still geting an html output of the file from the plugin. Other than that, this plugin was super easy. iTunes can't work with an .html file so I can't test it and when I click on the file, it just expands the definition but doesn't play the audio at all.

Is there something I'm still missing? Thanks in advance. I like this solution better than any others I've seen. Great job with this!

Jeff, the plugin creates a html page – with a link to a dynamicly created XML "File". If you like you can send more infos with a link to the your page so I can see for myself here: n dot company at me dot com.

Thanks!! here's the link http://www.thedreamcentrechurch.com/index.php?id=1

There are a bunch of php files in your configuration folders here in github that I'm not sure what do with them. I just followed your instructions and came really close.

What do you want me to do with the RealURL default.php file you have here? I took it off my realurl_config.php file incase it affected our current published podcasts. Let me know. Thanks for your help!

Hey Jeff,

thanks, looking into it. the plugin does not produce the right link on your site, did you modify the templates? You didn't no?

This is the link the plugin would produce normaly;
http://thedreamcentrechurch.com/xml/display/podcast/show/the-dream-centre-church-2013.html

Can you turn of realurl for a second and check, if the link to the feed "Podcast Feed" does contain a &type= part?

Reworking this part anyway now… the next version will be better :)

Cheers,
Noël

Hey Jeff

I have updated the extension and greatly enhanced URL handling. Can you checkout if this works for you? https://github.com/noelboss/Podcast/archive/development.zip

The update to 0.4 introduces new URL's and a new plugin configuration. In order to update to 0.4 you need to do the following:

  • Open the podcast plugin in the backend and set the "Default action of the plugin" to a correct value (recommended: dynamic)

Thank you sir!!

I dragged those files into the ext/podcast/ directory and this error came up:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

Again, I could be doing something wrong but I haven't changed anything in the configuration or templates and have added the TS Template to the Root Template as usual. I'm not the best at this so when I saw it was ready out of the box, I figured I could do this. Sorry for the trouble. It's just not working...

I'm going to reinstall it and see...

I disabled RealURL and was able to access the RSS feed screen. So is there a way to work with RealURL again?
Also, how would I submit this podcast URL to iTunes without the .xml feed?

Would you have a working demo of this podcast ext working somewhere? I would love to see how the extension works and looks successfully.

I enabled RealURL again and then uploaded the RealURL default.php file you from the .zip file you sent and so now RealURL works but the stream becomes this now:

http://thedreamcentrechurch.com/podcast/podcast/show/the-dream-centre-church-2013.html?tx_podcast_display[controller]=Podcast&cHash=ae69de4c0c092f5b1b085130151412f9

I don't see the screen about subscription to the feed anymore since enabling RealURL. It's close.

Thanks for your quick attention to this. Whatta serious help! Is there a place to download the latest and greatest version of the .t3x file? If I could install the latest version with all the updates, then I wouldn't have to worry about uploading the individual files. If not, could you send me the link to the latest fixed files that should clear everything up and I'll figure out the rest as best I can?

Thanks again Noel. Happy Easter! Be blessed!!!

Hey Jeff,

thank you for your blessing. The newest version is available directly on the TER: http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/view/podcast

So you can even install it trough Typo3 directly when you update the extension list. Hope it works.

Be blessed to, Noël

How can I change the RSS URL? I use Typo3 6.04, latest realurl and newest version of your extension. http://www.my--homepage.com/podcast/?type=1289377&tx_podcast_display%5Bpodcast%5D=1&tx_podcast_display%5Baction%5D=show&cHash=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Is it possible to shorten the URL? It would be great if you could call it by subdomain as feed.my - homepage.com or rss.my - homepage.com

Update to the newest version; http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/download/podcast/0.5.2/t3x/

Remove all code you have inserted in your realurl config for the podcast, the configuration is dynamically added by the extension.

If this does not help, deactivate both podcast and realurl and reactivate both: realurl first, then podcast. Don't forget to clear the caches.

Getting this error so far only in View mode. Page Mode is still accessible to content elements - using v4.5.11:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

So I have the realurl_config.php file in the typo3config folder. I've gotten rid of the above error. I copied and pasted the default.php file in the /RealURL/ directory and added it to the existing realurl_config.php file.

OR are you saying the podcast extension ADDS it's own default.php file into the typo3config/ directory? Should I just leave realURL_config.php and put default.php in the same directory?

This is the only error left. Page still won't display but this only:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE, expecting ')' in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/realurl_conf.php on line 653.

What should realurl_config.php look like?

@jeffyjeff

The error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE, expecting ')' in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/realurl_conf.php on line 653.

is referring to this piect of code in my realurl_config.php:

$TYPO3_CONF_VARS['EXTCONF']['realurl']['_DEFAULT']['postVarSets']['_DEFAULT']['podcast'] = array(

Does that help?

No, don't add anything, the extension extends the RealUrl array dynamically, you don't have to do anything.

@newsdesigner

I use the realurl_autoconf.php and no additional configuration.
Also the update to 0.5.2 and cache clearing doesn't change the url.

Disabling and enabling is also pointless.

So is this extension working somewhere? I'm still getting the same errors. Can you please explain the steps to a successful install? I've done what was instructed, several times, and I am still getting this:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/dreamcom/public_html/typo3conf/ext/podcast/Classes/Domain/Model/Episode.php on line 238

So I'm thinking that I'm missing something, I don't want to be a pain, just excited to get this plugin working for our church podcast. I'm sure it's me but if you would help instruct the necessary steps, I would be able to see what I've accidentally skipped. Thanks Noel.

Also, realurl_config.php permissions are set to 0644 by the system. Does this prevent it from being written to? Should I change permissions to something else?

Here's what I've done:

1 Uploaded the .t3x file and successfully installed the extension.
2 I've taken the constants.txt and the setup.txt and created the static template and added the podcast css file in includes.
3 I've added the new static template to the root template
4 I've cleared the cache several times along the way as well as manually through ftp.
5 I've added the plugin as a record on the home page and that's when the site no longer shows up in view mode and only displays those errors above.
