I've been looking for a while an editor like this one. It comes with everything I need. Thank you very much!!!

In case someday you decide to make a "not so simple" version, consider some mockups I did a few months ago to take some ideas: https://github.com/gnacho/Gnome-MD

Btw, looks great with GNOME once the "Enable Focus mode" is active.

PS: let me know if you need a hand with translation to Spanish, I'll manage ;)

Great work again!! 💯

Thanks! This project was more of an experiment but looking at your mockups I kind of want to make this happen. You did some great work there, maybe we can work on this together?

I'd love to help with anything I can, but I'm not a developer (I work as a project manager). Anyway if you need help coding I don't think it's gonna be difficult to find people, as the program is already pretty stable and mature.

I might help with it ;)

Awesome. I meant you can help more on the UX and UI design, not coding.

Sure thing, I'm in.

Although I like the UI just the way it is, you can add some features. Let me know what ideas you liked from my mockups.

Also consider to do as "simple as hell" website to promote the program.

Btw, I realized I can't open more than one instance, that sould be very useful to work at several documents at the time. Or tabs options.

GTK markdown editor should be "inspired" by Gedit, but take a look at "Abricotine" and "Typora", both great examples of what a MD Editor should be (1st one QT and 2nd not open source tho).

Anything you need please let me know, I can start working from now :)

Hi @gnacho @nilgradisnik did you ever progress on this discussion? I am also looking for a new markdown editor and keen to learn Rust.

I'm totally open to help with this project. I even have new ideas that can be implemented (using libadwaita and GTK4 would be great).

Let me know @nilgradisnik :)

Happy 2023 folks. We appear to have a stalled development effort here. I just found this tool.

There's nothing quite so satisfying as editing Markdown using a GUI written in Rust.

I hope development can continue.

Absolutely love this! I'll be forking this when I have time, always wanted to have a distraction free and lightweight markdown editor, but nothing satisfies it yet afaik.

I'll see if I can "rewrite" ProseMirror or Meta's Lexical into Rust 😉, cuz a more direct editing experience will elevate the UX to an exponentially high levels lol.

Not to mention the absolute extensibility of those rich-text editor architecture. I'm no pro player at Rust, but I'll see.
