Rendering tips for OpenSCAD? #8

I'm very impressed by the quality of your render, nice translucent, light and shadow. I would appreciate it if you could provide information on the software or pipelines used to render an OpenSCAD model to achieve a result similar to yours. Thank you in advance. |

There are probably lots of options, but it would start with individually rendering parts (or groups at least) in OpenSCAD and importing them into something else -- Blender in my case. I think I exported the keycaps as a single STL, the switches as another, and then separate STLs for each of: switch plates, column pieces, and row pieces, because while they're all the same material I needed them to have their own individual faces for the acrylic look. I can see if I can find my blend file tonight, my Blender experience was all pre-raytracing so I just fumbled through materials. You may have better luck there, or alternatively you may find a ready made glass shader. |
