I am assuming you would still need a MASOS disk initially to run Wavesyn before being able to create a MASOS disk from a blank? I don't have a MASOS disk for my Mirage so if this somehow works that would be amazing. |

It does not put MASOS on the new disk- it uses OS3.2. It could put the other (or any) OS on the disk when it writes images. I use a template of an OS disk and I know exactly where the audio samples go. The software just writes them into the OS template and voila- you have a disk image you can use with omniflop.
You are correct though that you need MASOS to run it, since that provides the MIDI sysex commands. No way around that.
If you have an old computer with a floppy (not a USB floppy) you can install omniflop and get the disk image online. Or I can sell you a disk cheap.

Thank you for getting back to me on this and I wish I had an opportunity to
respond sooner. Family and health issues.
Is there a simple way to install the program on OSX, a minimum update
requirement, and what is the process and cost for getting a MASOS disk?
I would love to have this functionality and give the mirage a new life and
really get it integrated into my setup. Thank you!

Hello. I might be able to make a dmg for Beta 15, but something changed in the build tools and I did sell my Mirage so I can't test anything and won't be developing more. I still have the ability to make any disk. $12 for MASOS, including shipping assuming you are in the US. Sounds like I did miss the party! Thank you for getting back to me though.
I'm surprised there isn't a lot more interest and support in what you've
made though. First thank you making this. I love the sound of sampling
direct or disks of varying quality on the Mirage and don't mind programming
it; but the idea of bypassing the input when desired and using one's own
material with a visual interface really expand what the Mirage can do I
imagine and easier to find more sweet spots or experimental territory.
Thank you for pointing me to the OSX installer. I have a few machines I can
try it with but by chance do you know if there is a minimum OSX update
requirement for it to run?
-Any particular things I should try or test to see if it will seemingly
work for when I have MASOS?
-Are there any major things missing between the updates? I saw there was a
fix to 16bit to 8bit conversion. Avoid using 16 bit files with Release Beta
13?

Beta 13 runs on my Mac, which is an M1 running Sonoma 14.2.1. As for a minimum, beta 9 was running on OSX version 11. Nothing special to try- should just work. If doing anything with HFE files (for a gotek), then you need to ensure path includes the hfe executable path.
I probably just never promoted it enough for people to really get it. Given I make no money on it, though, there is little motivation. The lucky few can run it. Someone can take over the project and carry it forward it they like.
Yeah, don't use the 16 to 8 bit converter. It can always be performed in audacity; my code just lets you run on every file in a folder for batch processing.

Since MASOS is required for running Wavsyn, I think I should add the option to create disks with MASOS on them instead of the regular OS v3.2. It should workout the same, disk format/layout-wise.
