I thought the dashes were just for readability so I used to not enter them with the password. After it failed to open, I realised dashes were required.

If you created a volume with a password that has dashes in it then you have to provide the password with those dashes at the same exact positions when unlocking the volume.
Sorry I forget to mention its a bitlocker volume. A bitlocker key shows in windows with dashes every 5 digits: XXXXX-XXXXX...
I thought those dashes were just for readibility and not actually required but zulicrypt requires them so I think it should be mentioned in the ui.
