Is it possible to frame by frame through videos & gifs?

Hey!,

I'm looking into mediacms to install it in a personal server for a research project, and I'm wondering if there is a way to go through the videos frame by frame, and secondly if it supports gifs too.

See I'm an animator and I've gathered references that I use in my work and I'd like to be able to keep it in my server in a way that I can classify and find and analyze easily and this seems to be the closest to what I want, is any of the 2 things described above possible?
