</h3>
<p><abbr title="International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists">IAALD</abbr> World Congress 2013 at Cornell University is an opportunity for participants to explore, share, and discuss emerging priorities in discovery and access systems, content-management tools, and institutional or individual collaborations, in a content-rich era that is shaped by open-source technology, user-driven content, and partnerships,</p>
<p>The three-day Congress will feature contributed paper discussions, panels with leading experts, and interactive workshops with plenty of time for networking with colleagues. </p>

<p class="lbox-speaker-bio">
Dr. Naalamle Amissah is a lecturer in the Crop Science Department at the University of Ghana and also serves as the Programme Coordinator of the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), a Centre established at the University of Ghana to train plant breeders at PhD level with expertise to improve the indigenous crops that feed the people of the West and Central African sub-region. She holds a doctorate and a Master of Science degree in Horticulture from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. Her research focuses on the selection, evaluation and propagation of economically important plants that are either difficult-to-propagate or at risk of extinction (several medicinal plant species fall within this category), as well as the development of improved technologies to ensure their successful establishment as cash crops to improve livelihoods of indigenes. Through a Volkswagen Stiftung Junior Fellowship Grant she received in 2011 she is working on developing propagation protocols for Cryptolepis sanguinolenta and Croton membranaceus, two important medicinal plant species used in the treatment of malaria and prostate cancer respectively.

Dr. Simon Y. Liu is the Director of National Agricultural Library (NAL). Prior to joining NAL, he was an Associate Director of National Library of Medicine, the Acting Director of Information Management and Security at the Department of Justice, the Chief Information System Architect at the Treasury Department, and a program manager at private sector. Dr. Liu holds two doctorate degrees in Computer Science and Higher Education Administration from George Washington University, a Master of Arts degree in Government from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Chun-Yuan University. Dr. Liu is the Editor-in-Chief of an information technology magazine and an editor of two journals. Dr. Liu has published a book and more than 70 book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers.”

Dr. Weiner is Professor of Library Science and holds the position of W. Wayne Booker Chair in Information Literacy at Purdue University. She is Vice-President of the National Forum on Information Literacy. She is a member of the Advisory Boards of the journals, Practical Academic Librarianship and the Journal of Purdue Undergraduate Research; series editor for the new Information Literacy Handbook Series of Purdue University Press; and editor of the column, “Information Literacy Beyond the Library” for the journal, College & Undergraduate Libraries. She has a doctorate in higher education leadership and policy studies from the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University and a Masters in Library Science from the University at Buffalo. She is the author of numerous publications on information literacy and academic librarianship. Dr. Weiner's research interests focus on information literacy and particularly, the policy and organizational aspects.

<p>
Dr. Weiner has been tphe Dean of Library Services at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Director of Vanderbilt’s Peabody Library, and department head and faculty member in the University at Buffalo Health Sciences Library. She co-developed and was Co-Chair of Vanderbilt University’s annual Peabody Academic Library Leadership Institute.

Rikin Gandhi is chief executive officer of Digital Green. Rikin’s interests include sustainable agriculture and technology
for socioeconomic development. He co-founded Digital Green as a research project in Microsoft Research India’s Technology
for Emerging Markets team and now leads the spin-off of Digital Green that works to amplify the effectiveness of agricultural
development globally. Rikin is a licensed private pilot and received patents for linguistic search algorithms that he helped
develop at Oracle. He has a master's in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology
and a bachelor's in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University.

<p><a href="http://www.iaald.org/news/preparing-xiv-iaald-world-congress-2013-cornell-university"><img src="images/about-iaald-video.jpg" /></a><a class="links" href="http://iaald.org/"><abbr title="International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists">IAALD</abbr></a>'s mission is to enable our members to create, capture, access and disseminate information to achieve a more productive and sustainable use of the world's land, water, and renewable natural resources. To further this mission: IAALD connects agricultural information specialists worldwide, providing platforms and spaces for information dissemination, exchange and knowledge sharing; <abbr title="International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists">IAALD</abbr> convenes agricultural information specialists worldwide, organising meetings and catalyzing dialogue among all agricultural information stakeholders; <abbr title="International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists">IAALD</abbr> communicates and advocates the value of knowledge and information to its members and others, improving the status and practice of agricultural information management and dissemination; <abbr title="International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists">IAALD</abbr> collaborates with members and other partner organisations, facilitating and catalyzing educational and other opportunities across agricultural information communities.</p>
<p><abbr title="International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists">IAALD</abbr> World Congresses are held every three to five years. Some of our previous congresses have been held in Montpelier, France (2010); Toyko, Japan (2008); Lexington, Kentucky, USA (2005); and Dakar, Senegal (2000).</p>
<p><a class="links" href="http://mannlib.cornell.edu/">ALBERT R. Mann Library</a> collections and services support the faculty, staff and students of the University. In particular our resources and staff support the instruction, research, and extension programs of Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and College of Human Ecology. As a land grant library, Mann also supports the research needs of citizens of the state of New York and participates in the community of land grant libraries throughout the United States. In keeping with the Cornell University's international mission, Mann library promotes innovations in information systems and services for international development. Mann Library is committed to providing outstanding information and research services in the areas of importance to its constituents through expert staff, scholarly resources, state of the art information technology, strategic partnerships and continuous innovation.</p>
