This seems to happen in complex expressions. In the example below, I'm trying to delete the minus (-) term second from bottom. The 'x' next to the term actually just clears the value box. But if you mouse over that row you can see further up there are a bunch of x's. I suspect these are the ones that delete the /, - and * terms, but they are probably just not aligned to their respective rows.

After playing with it more, it seems like any of those x's deletes the entire scoring table shown and the other branches.
