This project is an Android app which will record the location and other information about water samples taken. The water samples are put on a petri-film as part of the Portable Microbiology Lab (PML) and incubated. The Android app will then take a picture of the petri-film and accurately count and analyse the bacteria colonies present. This information will be uploaded to a central server, giving an up-to-date and reliable water quality information for a region.

Lab trials of the PML and app are scheduled for April 2012 and field trials for June/July 2012.
