LVM autoextend not working, what am I doing wrong ? #167
Comments
Hi a) make sure you are running the latest upstream version of lvm2 ('lvm version') So you would need to capture 'lvs -a' in the moment of your 'full pool' state - to see whether auto resize is working or not? |
Hello,
I'm not sure I get. Did you mean "10G + 10G thin-pools and 8G thin LV on one of the pools" ? If yes, then you're right, one of the pools were unused.
Strange, I didn't disabled them but sorry I didn't see that.
Of course, it's very clear to me, thanks.
Today I've reinstalled the test server, let's resume what I do : nano /etc/lvm/lvm.conf # I add lines I posted in my original post
systemctl restart lvm2-monitor
lvcreate --type vdo --name VDO-LV-1 --size 10G --virtualsize 20G VG-1 Output :
lvs -o +seg_monitor Output :
vgs Output :
mkfs.ext4 -E nodiscard /dev/VG-1/VDO-LV-1 Output :
mkdir /mnt/VDO-LV-1 Output :
mount /dev/VG-1/VDO-LV-1 /mnt/VDO-LV-1/
dd if=/dev/random of=/mnt/VDO-LV-1/test1.img bs=1M count=10000 oflag=dsync status=progress Output :
lvs -a Output :
df -h Output :
rm /mnt/VDO-LV-1/* Output :
I don't do it for LVM thin but the behavior is exactly the same. |
Well - first upgrade to recent upstream version - there is no point to hunt 'fixed' issues in 2 years old version So please first switch to version 2.03.28 - then we will continue.... |
Hello !
I am running tests en VDO pools and LVM thin pools on a Debian 12.8 machine. I've added this to lvm.conf :
then ran :
Following this RHEL documentation : https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/configuring_and_managing_logical_volumes/basic-logical-volume-management_configuring-and-managing-logical-volumes#automatically-extending-a-thin-pool_extending-a-thin-pool
And my
shows they are monitored :
But I fill my VDO or thin LVs and they don't get expanded...
