Is it possible to only use the select directive?

Hi there im new here, I really like the select directive and would love if I could merge this with Angular Material. IIve noticed that in the github, the components seem to be seperated into folders so ive been wondering if this was done puposely so we could inject certain components.

If so, would there by anu guides or example I can find on how to do this?
