People -> Manifesto #32
Comments
So I posted this and the sky started falling :O |
Don't worry, it is just me releasing a few npm packages from 39,000 feet 😜 ⛈ |
lol @urish @benjamingr I don't think that today we are "ranking" people. We're listing them. I like listing people for the projects their involved with. It provides some insight and context and you do want to be able to reach to key people in the community. It doesn't necessarily conflict with an open source manifesto so IMO we can have both. That said, I feel the manifesto needs to be in some context, otherwise you can have 10k people signing it. What value do you get from that? |
10 thousand people who are committed to creating OpenSource and believe in it? Sign me up! |
Hey, "#Israeli open source activists What do you think? If you think is a good idea, I will also check that there are contact details in the volunteer's Github profile, if the details are not there, we will add a contact link. |
@asafc is it relevant for you to stay in the list? |
I have decided to step down from handling this issue |
FWIW, I stand with my prior comment - people list and manifesto doesn't conflict, they compliment:
|
How do you think the title above the manifesto should be worded? |
I don't know, I've never written one before. Maybe we should ask ChatGPT 😆 |
What if we write an Israeli Open Source Manifesto and instead of mentioning people by name let anyone who is interested sign it?
That way we can be inclusive to anyone interested, not rank people. Here is a template of what it can look like:
We the undersigned all agree on the following,
Signed,
Benjamin Gruenbaum (@benjamingr, Node.js, Bluebird, Sinon, MobX)
// rest of the names here
We could include anyone interested, sorting or a "bar" wouldn't matter anymore since we're focusing on the people agreeing on the idea of open source rather than the actual contributions made.
This would replace "Individuals", I'd put "Events" above "Projects" too so:
WDYT? cc @lirantal @amitzur @OriHoch @urish
