Is it possible to add instructions for installing on windows 11? I understand that on windows we must link the stata automation library. This has been made difficult due to windows making creating shortcuts very difficult. Would be very appreciated if someone could explain how to install on windows 11!

There are easier-to-install kernels for Stata 17+. I maintain one that is similar to stata_kernel features-wise: https://github.com/hugetim/nbstata

Or there's also the original pystata-based kernel: https://github.com/ticoneva/pystata-kernel

Unfortunately I've been asked explicitly to get this particular kernel working. :(

Is the problem that you're not finding the "Create Shortcut" option when you right-click the Stata executable? If so, try one of these options: https://www.lifewire.com/bring-back-old-context-menu-in-windows-11-8603528

The issue is moreso that windows seems to have changed what the shortcut properties window looks like and there's nowhere to append /Register , as far as I'm aware.

I see. That's not how the Properties window looked on my Windows 11 computer. I was able to edit the Target.
