This has been a problem for El Capitan for a while. I haven't tested it for Sierra. drduh/macOS-Security-and-Privacy-Guide#192

The fix is to revert to destroyfvkeyonstandby to Experimental rather than Recommended.

I haven't had any issues with it on Sierra so far.
