Think about this ? Make a kind of default folder ?

This would reduce the size of the environment folders and would make clear where the differences are.

If they are common to all artifact, they can safely be already included in the base artifact. You plugin is mere about difference in the environments and not common configuration. Though, I admit that there is one usecase for that: I have 'remote-wars' which all have the same logback.xml in common which the same file for my Eclipse installation does not share.
