Several requests have been made to add various functions into the core project. I'm not a maintainer so I can't say what qualifies to be let in, but even some useful math functions are not yet added. Your use-case, I think, is way too specialized. Fortunately, jsonata lets you extend your instance with custom functions (docs). So you can write the function in javascript and use it in your expressions.
