This code sits on top of the PSI CaChannel interface for basic channel access support and the GSECARS Python library for beamline objects such as motors and scalers. To install the PSI CaChannel, just untar CaChannel-1.4_bin.tar in a new directory and copy the contents into the python "site-packages" directory. On my system that was /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages. The gsecars library is a subdirectory of this one. I added a couple of missing import statements and methods to the source. Add <this directory> and <this directory>/gsecars and <this directory>/GUI to your PYTHONPATH and you should be good to go. This code currently assumes pv names of the form <beamline>:<object>. For example, "x12c:mon", "x12c:scaler1". This is the convention normally followed at synchrotron beamlines. "bl_main.py" is the main program. It expects a configuration file of the form below. For now, we need to adhere strictly to the simple format and not add comments to the file. The first column for the motors is the pv name, the second is a descriptor. The descriptor can be anything (no spaces), but the scaler must be labeled "main_counter". Below is my test configuration file (epx.db in this directory). This configuration file must be pointed to by the environment variable EPICS_BEAMLINE_INFO. After executing "bl_main.py", you'll be able to run the commands in beamline.py and put new macros in "my_macros.py". There is fairly superficial documentation of beamline.py in beamline_doc.txt. "beamline.py" is a general starting point for beamline control. The basics are there, but it's not even close to complete. Beamline-specific stuff should go in "my_macros". If you want bl_main to talk to spec, just uncomment the obvious code at the top of bl_main.py.
