How to do screen capture on Ubuntu
1. Install screen capture software
sudo apt-get install recordmydesktop
2. Open application you want to capture
qmlscene myproject.qml
3. Use xwindinfo to determine the window id of the application window you want to capture
xwininfo # click on the window you want to record to determine the window id
4. Start recording. If you want you can specify delay in seconds.
recordmydesktop --fps=60 --delay=3 --no-frame --stop-shortcut=Control+s --no-sound --windowid=windowidhere # e.g. --windowid=0x300000d
5. a.) Convert the Ogg Vorbis clip to divx
sudo apt-get install mencoder
mencoder out.ogv -ovc xvid -oac mp3lame -xvidencopts pass=1 -o out.avi

5. b.) If you need to clip the recording use PiTiVi (executable pitivi).
Render the clipped video. In PiTiVi click Render project toolbar button. Modify Export settings to your liking:
Video output: Custom
Width: 800 # change width to match the size of the window
Height: 480 # change height to match the size of the window
Framerate: 15fps # to match recordmydesktop capture parameters
Container: Avi Muxer [avimux] # Vimeo doesn't support the default Ogg Vorbis encoder
Video Codec: FFmpeg MPEG-4 part 2 encoder [ffenc_mpeg4].
