"An error occurred while saving" when close a File with command+w #38
Comments
Update: if i quit the application (no document is open) after the error is occurred i get a second message that asks me "Could not save changes while quitting. Quit anyway?". regards |
I am sorry but the development of Fraise has been discontinued since the release of Smultron 4.0. I might decide to continue the development later when I will have more availability. It seems anyway that the text editor area on Mac OS X is becoming overcrowded these days. |
@jfmoy I'm really, really sad to hear this. Fraise is still my favorite editor; the straightforward interface is perfect, and it's neither too basic nor overloaded with unnecessary features. Since upgrading to Lion, this bug — while not making the program unusable — has been a really frustrating distraction. If it's any incentive whatsoever, I'd be more than happy to pay for future releases of Fraise. Smultron 4.0 simply doesn't cut it, having removed many features, and the rest of the more basic text-editors are lacking in a lot of ways. |
Thank you for your support Wakirby. Right now I don't have time to fix the issue you are describing but I promise I will have a look and update Fraise as soon as I will have time. |
@jfmoy You're a saint. |
May or may not be related, but I get a bunch of "An error occured while saving" -boxes when closing a file if there's a locked file in my Open Recent menu. OS X 10.7.3 and Fraise 3.7.3. |
I dug around the source code for several hours today, and I believe this problem is related to the autosave functionality built into OS X Lion. I also attempted to refactor to ARC, to see if that might relieve the problem, but my Objective-C knowledge was too limited to complete the process. |
Hey
There is a bug in Fraise (3.7.3) that is also present in smultron's 3.8.4 version. I hit the bug with Lion 10.7.2. At this time i can't reproduce certainly the bug. Sometimes if i close a file (with no changes) with command+w i get the error "An error occurred while saving" in a popup Window. From now on i get the error every time i close a file. I must quit the application and start it again to fix the issue.
I live smultron/fraise very much but i don't want to update to smultron 4 with multi window layout.
regards
ralph
