I read on HN there is an unfortunate issue with the present "includeos.org" domain ownership.
As I have some experience in this area, out of curiosity I had a look at other TLD's presently available for the term. There was one that struck me as potentially quite suitable: ".io". This TLD, despite commonly being associated with development projects, is also the acronym for "IncludeOS". Further, it's also sort of currently in use - via the very similar to "includeos.github.io".
Alternatives I could see available too were .net and .com, while .dev seemed another potential. These are all generally cheaper than ".io", though could also be considered a little bland. I believe the value of having strong URL branding shouldn't be underestimated - just like a name itself, it can dramatically affect the ability to attract developers and users.
Given IncludeOS has such a strong brand already, it seemed a shame the situation with the current URL. By acquiring a new replacement domain, any squatter would suffer the ultimate loss with regard to their "investment", while IncludeOS would conversely expends minimal cost and resolve the matter in the shortest timeframe, versus any potentially protracted litigation scenario.
As I mention - of course, feel free to discard this (unsolicted!) advice - and regardless, I wish you all the best with the project.
