election-2015

Analysis of the UK general election results, specifically how many MPs got 40% of all eligible votes. This was done because of the proposal in the Queen's speech to require votes in favour of strikes to have 40% of all eligible votes (it also proposes that companies be allowed to hire scabs).

I collected the data from the BBC website and saved it into the database. Some of the results can be seen in https://github.com/huwf/election-2015/blob/master/results.txt.

  • Turns out that only 84 MPs (12.9%) actually had this
  • Of cabinet members 9 out of 21 MPs (42.9%) did
