Setting Up a Dedicated Admin Account for Homebridge Eufy Security Plugin

Using the same account for both the Eufy App and the Eufy Security Plugin can sometimes cause unexpected issues. To ensure smooth operation, it's recommended to create a dedicated admin account for the Homebridge Eufy Security Plugin. Follow the steps below to set it up:

Important Note:

  • In the eufySecurity app version (v4.0 or above), there are two methods to share access: Share Home & Share Device.
  • For certain devices, you can directly share the device from the product settings page.
  • Ensure there are no spaces when entering the email address.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Create a New Account:

  2. Invite the New Account:

    • Login with your main account.
    • To share access:
      • Share Home: Go to Side Menu > Share Management > Share Home > Invite > Enter the new email address.
      • Share Device: Go to Side Menu > Share Management > Share Device > Invite > Choose Admin/Guest > Select the associated device > Enter the new email address.
  3. Assign Admin Rights:

    • Ensure you grant the new account admin rights, not guest rights.
  4. Accept the Invitation:

    • Once the invitation is sent, the new account is set up and ready. The plugin is designed to automatically accept invitation requests.

Additional Notes:

  • Shared Account Limit: Currently, Eufy only allows up to five shared accounts. Only the primary account with devices set up can share access.

  • Invitation Issues: If the invited person only receives the invitation email but doesn't get a notification in the app, please contact Dufy support. Provide details of the main account, shared account, and ensure 2FA is turned off for the shared account.

  • Login Environment: If the invitation doesn't work, ensure the shared account is in the same login environment as the main account. To check and adjust:

    • Open the App.
    • Tap the three-lined button in the upper-left corner of the 'Device' tab.
    • Navigate to Settings > Region to view and adjust the login environment.
