Changing text width does not seem to work

Hi,
First, cool project, thanks for sharing.

I attempted to change width of some characters in my font and after save, they become filled squares. Would it be possible for you to look into this? I greatly appreciate your effort.

Are you on the latest master-branch or a previous release? If this is related to a variable width font I don't really know what works and not. Maybe @fvanroie knows? Other than that we might look into it, but this tool isn't constantly maintained. Feel free to submit a PR if you look into it yourself though.
