Hi,

New grist user here, with first difficulties (Grist discovered thanks to Fosdem 2024).

I am surprised there is no grist-electron portable version (I couldn't install other versions, grist-core with or without docker). People need admin rights for installing, which is too bad for giving a try ! I have never built electron apps, but as far as I tried, just rezipping the installed version works well.

I cannot find easily where data is saved 'HOME' is 'C:/Users//Documents' on Windows. But then, I cannot find how to change the path ! I see I can use a .env file for setting global variables, but I cannot find how to name these variables...

I'm sure it's just a matter of documentation, but for people trying out the project, the first impressions are important !

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. Windows portable build will be added to the next release of grist-electron.
