Currently it appears the API key is not used when rendering the map.

API keys are required now by Google. I've made a fix for it. If you think its alright, i'll submit a PR.

Static Maps are now broken, as they don't use the API key

It might be worth creating a separate ticket for issues with the current SS3 version due to changes by Google. I've almost got it working with SS4, but my focus life wise is not programming right now and won't be for several months.
