Lost several entries in restore on iPhone XS Max #654
Comments
Could it be that your iCloud backup is old, and you didn't get ones you added more recently? |
I made the backup immediately before I did the restore, for both iCloud and iTunes backups. The iCloud backup didn't preserve any of the entries for GA, it was a blank slate. I noticed this behavior in other apps as well, where the state (saved credentials) wasn't maintained. The iTunes backup preserved some entries in GA but not all. |
In the past when upgrading phones, I've done the backup/restore from old phone to new with no issues in GA. |
i have the same problem. did a backup today (encrypted) and only 2 out of my 20 or so entries are there |
I had this problem when restoring from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone Xs last September. Both devices were using then-current versions of iOS and the Authenticator app. Some of my 2FA seeds were not restored in the backup and migration to the new phone. They were local, encrypted backups using iTunes; no iCloud. I just experienced the same problem again restoring from a backup of an iPhone Xs to another iPhone Xs using iOS 13b5. Some of my 2FA seeds are present after restore, but several have gone missing. This is inconvenient to say the least. |
I've used Google Authenticator for several years and haven't experienced any issues. I recently upgraded to an iPhone XS Max and restored a backup from my previous phone. Google Authenticator has some of the entries, but is missing about half. I can still see these entries on my previous phone. Unlike one of the previously described issues, this isn't just my Google accounts, but includes others. I've tried restoring a backup from iCloud, iTunes, etc. and the same issue persists. It may be due to a formatting issue with the new screen resolution of the XS Max, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?
