Statistical test for mapper

Hi,
I am new to the TDA-Mapper area. I was experimenting with mapper on some of my data (e.g., 7 features after feature selection and outcome/label is binary: 1 or 0) and found some interesting patterns with respect to color variables (outcome/label) and also coloring patterns of mapper graph with respect to individual 7 features. I am right now visualizing the mapper graphs to understand the difference and association of each feature with the outcome/label, but Is there any statistical test to perform on the graph for statistical analysis or show some numbers/values other than visualization?

Hi! While we haven't yet included a standard battery of tests in the library, it is important to remember that the MapperInteractivePlotter object contains graph_, pipeline_, color_features_ and node_summaries_ attributes as explained in the documentation. These contain a lot of information, accessible in a simple way, and once make your idea for a statistical test clear it should not be too hard to implement it on these objects. I'm happy to provide more guidance!

In general, I think this paper gives an overview of the current understanding behind Mapper and statistics. Otherwise, you might use Mapper for exploratory analysis, but then, resort to "standard" tests on tabular data.

I would be happy to help if I understand exactly what kind of test you would like to conduct.
