Hy all,
the geoSDI team wants to start making a wrap for OpenLayers 3.
Our idea is to organize a meeting on the IRC channel #gwt-openlayers, server irc.freenode.net to start talking about how to do this improvement.
So everyone interested in helping us can join us on IRC next Monday (29 September) at 15:00 (Italian Time).
Regards
geoSDI Team

Hello - It's been a few years since this was last updated. I am currently using OpenLayers 2 in an app and I am wondering if there is still a desire to move to 3 as mentioned in this issue? Just trying to plan for future. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi ,
geoSDI currently maintain GWT-OpenLayers repo for version 2.
In this moment we are too busy to think to wrap OpenLayers 3.

@washowasho gwt-ol3 is a GWT-Wrapper for OpenLayers (3 and onwards). It uses JsInterop features which was introduced with GWT 2.7 (final implementation with 2.8). Let me know if you have questions!

@glascaleia & @TDesjardins Thank you for the responses.

@TDesjardins , the one thing I like about GWT-OpenLayers is how it works nicely with the OpenStreetMap (OSM) JS library. It appears that https://github.com/TDesjardins/gwt-ol3 does not (or maybe OpenLayers 3 doesn't all together?).

@washowasho You mean OSM source? It's already supported. Take a look at examples:
https://tdesjardins.github.io/gwt-ol3/#MarkerExample
https://tdesjardins.github.io/gwt-ol3/#OsmExample

OL3 even have support for OSM vector tiles: https://openlayers.org/en/latest/examples/osm-vector-tiles.html

Feel free and open an issue if you are missing something.
