In order to avoid having future updates overwrite configuration stored in the .htaccess file, it should be initially stored with a "-dist" string (similar to the other configuration files). Then, removing this string makes it a valid file for use with Apache web server while also making less likely to be accidently changed.

Please be sure to update instructions when this change is made.
