Inform: Forwards and Trans*Code

The community team has always been very nebulous in terms of focus.

The mission statement for Forwards is "Leading the R community forwards in widening the participation of women and other under-represented groups." Essentially the community team is focussed on the "other under-represented groups" part.

We have built up a relationship with the Trans Community. We attended some events that Trans*code have organized to learn more about how Trans members of the tech community interact with the rest of the tech world, and the type of problems they typically encounter. To be frank, very few of the people at the events that I talked to have heard of R. They did appreciate that a delegate (me) was attending to their event.
