At the Forwards Community team meeting in August 2019, we discussed the importance of Institutional Memory i.e. a collective set of facts, concepts, experiences and knowledge held by an organization : (i.e. contact details, legal matters, known logistical constraints, optimal timelines, etc)

For the ongoing operational effectiveness of an organization, ease of access to institutional memory is vital.

Onboarding :
It would allow new members of the organizations to understand the function of the organization, how it conducts its operations, and key facts need to be known.

Bus Factor Risk:
Ease of access to institutional memory will mitigate against the sudden or unexpected loss of key personnel. A concept associated with this risk is the Bus Factor.
