[Bug] Ly fails to launch x11

• I have looked for any other duplicate issues

Ly version

Ly version 1.1.0-dev.102+e125d8f

Observed behavior

When I try to login with any x11 window manager or my xinitrc it just says "xauth command failed" . I have not tested with wayland.

Expected behavior

it would launch the selected window manager.

Steps to reproduce

1. compile the version listed on fedora 41
2. enable ly.service
3. try to log into an x11 window manager or xinitrc

I'm not sure if it's something I've done wrong but lightdm works, ly doesn't

you most likely need to install xorg-xauth, it's an optional dependency for some reason

I have it installed, sorry for not noting earlier that I'm on fedora

I already had it installed when I originally tried Ly

maybe you could try reinstalling xauth

Can report this same issue happening on Arch on multiple devices of mine.

I have that installed with no luck, unfortunately. Did you set up your system manually or use archinstall? I archinstalled both my systems, though iirc one initially had lightdm before I switched to ly
