Issue Description

I upgraded the node to the latest version (both op-geth and op-node) and now when I try to do a request like this:

curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" --data '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"eth_getTransactionCount","params":["0xbeef3d45e9121123abfc7d4660d9dd88d129a3f7", "latest"],"id":1}' http://127.0.0.1:8585

I get this error:

So how can I get the transaction count?

Typically, --rollup.historicalrpc=https://mainnet.optimism.io

But if you need intensive historical requests, you may need to host your own legacy geth node: https://docs.optimism.io/builders/node-operators/management/configuration#legacy-geth

However, if you are requesting a historical state that's too far from the chain head, you may need to deploy an archive node. Not a full node.

For L1, I'm running geth on the same machine (rpc port 8545). Here's a curl:

I haven't tested yet if it's fully working but since mainnet.optimism.io seem to support querying pre-bedrock blocks, it should work for non-intensive workload.

@tajelp I don't pretty sure what's going on. Options you could try are:

• Use alchemy free RPC for L1 and Quicknode for beacon endpoint instead
• Try https://github.com/smartcontracts/simple-optimism-node
