Not saving API key / not showing updates available to theme?

Hiya,

I just installed this on a website which uses the Newspaper Theme, which I bought through ThemeForest (the site is running WordPress 4.4.2 as I want to update the theme before updating WordPress).

I've created and entered an API key, but although it says changes are saved, it doesn't seem to save the API key (when I click save settings, the entry in the Secret API key field changes) - and although it's correctly showing the theme I've purchased in the Themes tab, it's not showing me that there's an update available even though I'm aware that there is.

Has anyone else experienced this issue / does anyone know what might be causing it?
