Saving barchart viz does not save image of the viz itself

Instead it saves a generic "this is a barchart" icon.
It used to work.

may be related to imagemagick - perhaps this isn't installed on the server?

Imagemagick was not installed, but after installing it the issue still persists

per our meeting today, uploading of images is also broken and most likely can be traced back to the same root cause.
