Does anyone have a pointer to such an example?

Hella late, but FWIW: the original thesis explains (I think) that unix diff is pretty much list diffing. Sorry if I just stated the obvious.

Also, here's a gist of my understanding of it, if it helps at all.

By this I meant a self contained executable that uses the library.
