this token launched nov 20, but there aren't 40 1d candles. looks like empty candles aren't being created by the TV adapter

It seems that this is default TradingView (and other charts) behaviour.

The screenshot below is the chart of the DJI (Dow Jones Industrial) during September 2001. After 9/11, the market was closed for a couple of days (11 to 16). The chart shows as continuous, skipping the closed days.

The same behavior can be observed in the screenshot you provided. During days with 0 activity, no bars were generated. When showing the chart, all existing bars are put one next to the other, without leaving blank spaces.

It seems though that skipping empty activity periods is possible (see this comment on the trading view repo).

@alnoki what are your thoughts on this ? Should we add a space when there are missing candles or not ?

this comparison doesn't make sense, emojicoin's market never closes

ive traded on many platforms, this is the first to omit empty candles

the tradingview charting library even has trouble with default window sizing because it expects more candles than are drawn in the window

right now you ARE skipping empty activity periods. instead, the candle should have zero volume, which correctly represents what occurs in the market data (the market was not closed). or course this is possible, every other TV integration operates this way

here is an example of empty candles from hyperliquid

the more i think about this the less sense it makes, for example, if i switched to a hypothetical 1 second candle, the entire chart scaling will be nonsense since 99.999% of the candles will be missing

image

you can see they still draw candles, even when the volume indicator is 0 (emoji's volume indication is also incorrect, filed in a different issue)

@MoonShiesty thanks for providing the images and the rationale for 24/7/365 markets

We'll look into something like the HyperLiquid example you mentioned, which uses blips and empty volume for times with not trades
