After updating my R (and spending hours trying to fix a problem loading dada2) I remembered that the solution I found here (https://support.bioconductor.org/p/9137290/) was to get the version of R that wasn't for M1 macs despite working on one. I don't know if this relates to the problems I had getting RoLE to work, but with this fresh in mind I hope to try it again when I have a free moment to see if I can be successful.
